Career Opportunity ~ Lightedpixels DI Artist

•January 24, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Dear friends and readers,

The past year has been a really busy and amazing year for us here at Lightedpixels. Moving forward, we have a number of new projects we cannot wait to start on and share with all of you.  This has also created an opportunity for me to invite you to join our team as a DI artist. This position is effective immediately.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about photo editing and expressing himself or herself through visual art. You have a deep desire to want to make an image better. While editing an image, it is not uncommon for you to feel deeply for the subject. You are compassionate and it shows in the work you create. You are not afraid to get creative and dirty. You love to explore and have a vivid imagination.

Nothing you do is done because you had to.

You work well within a team and is able to work with instructions and deadlines.

We are offering this as a full time or part time position (to be discussed further). You need not be based in Singapore. If this sounds a lot like you and what you would love to do, do email us your resume at support@lightedpixels.com

We look forward to hearing from you. If you know of anyone who might also be keen, do pass this link to them.

WPPI 2010 2nd Half International Photography Competition ~ Kelvin

•January 19, 2011 • Leave a Comment

I am happy to announce that two of my images have been placed in the WPPI 2010 International Photography Competition. In addition, 7 other entries received Accolades of Excellence. The WPPI is based in the USA and is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious organization and photo competition for wedding and portrait photographers. Past and present winners include some of the very best wedding photographers around the world. Once a year, in Feb, they hold a convention in Las Vegas and that’s also where the annual print contest results are announced. It’s very much the Grammy awards for wedding and portrait photographers. Ha! =)

Here are the two images which have been placed.

Alvin and Xiaoping’s image was placed 2nd in the engagement portraits category.

Lance’s image with his horse, Nukie, came in 3rd in the Pet’s category.

Red Wagon Day ~ Kelvin

We got ourselves some really cool toys from Radio Flyer last weekend. Part of the excuse reason was that we will be using them for photo shoots, especially for kids shoot! Yesterday, we took the toys out for a spin with Kyra, Nessya and our friends Adrian, Frances and their kids, Emma and Elijah. The red wagon was by far the most popular among the kids… and adults.

Little Nessie decided she is a scooter girl!

Kyra was either headbutting EJ or trying to kiss him… either way, he don’t look too excited.

Adrian going cross terrain with the kids… ok ok… it’s just 1m off the road but it’s still cross terrain.

EJ listening to Kyra’s argument as to why he should share his Milo Pops with her.

Zaphs and Kailian came along for the ride too… at times, literally.

The ultra cool Red Tricycle. If I was smaller (and I mean much smaller), I would be zipping around all day around Wessex Estate in this. Love the frillies on the handles!

The equally uber cool Scooter. Elly from Pocoyo goes around in one… so does Kyra.

Zaphs and Kailian showing us just how child-like they are.

Nessya was infatuated with Emma whom she calls AhhMa. She was generous with her kisses and show of affections.

Nessya was the first on the Red Wagon… and also the first off! =)

The real kids from Lightedpixels…

A Morning with the GF1 and the Leica 50 Summilux Asph ~ Kelvin

I recently purchased an adapter for my GF1 for my Leica M lens. This morning, I took the camera and a 50mm lens on a walkabout. It’s quite a joy and I think the GF 1 is a good alternative to the M8 and the M9. =)

Alwin Appreciation Month(s)!

•December 15, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Christmas is around the corner and we have decided between Alwin, Beth and myself to declare this period, Alwin Appreciation Month(s), on top of the festive celebration. This is to celebrate the guy who has lived his passion, quietly winning his awards and a great friend and buddy to us all. He has also somehow been getting more and more popular with the girls. His one true flaw in our humble opinion is not his devotion to Sony… but his aversion to Whiskey, the drink and not the dog. Alwin, in turn, would like to extend his appreciation to his couples! He has, however, promised us our Christmas presents at the very least. Hence, for this month and next, Alwin is offering new sign-up couples 2 complimentary hours for a full day sign up (8 hours or more), 10 additional images for a 6 hour Pre-wedding Portrait session and a whopping $1000 discount if you sign up both Pre-Wedding and Wedding day photography with him. Do email us at info@lightedpixels.com to book and for more information. Have a great evening guys. =0 Warmest Kelvin

Celebrating Wee Chao and Adeline in Hua Hin ~ Kelvin

•December 6, 2010 • 1 Comment

Adeline and Wee Chao hosted me in Bangkok and Hua Hin for their pre-wedding portraits and what a trip it was! This was my first visit to Hua Hin, Thailand and Hua Hin is really scenic and rustic. It’s got such a nice quiet vibe and is perhaps one of the best getaways in the region.

Adeline and Wee Chao have been dating for a while now and we had so much of their shared experience and love for one another to look towards. They are also incredibly warm! I will be shooting their wedding later this month and I am very much looking forward to it! =)

Here are some images from our shoot in Hua Hin.
